A Week-Long Celebration of
Seven Days of Local Delights is an annual week of celebrating our vibrant local food system. The week is filled with events and workshops on topics ranging from cooking classes to raised bed gardening demos to growing edible mushrooms. In addition to classes, we also partner with the area's best restaurants to offer a Red Hills Special dish featuring locally sourced ingredients. The week is capped by a fundraiser dinner or brunch that is really something to remember.
Our next Seven Days of Local Delights week will be in January 2020.
The 2019 workshop lineup really showed the diversity in our local food system and the many ways local food is grown, accessed, and used. Workshops included:
Sourdough 101 - Louise Divine (Turkey Hill Farm) & Betsey Brown (Longview Farms)
Herbal Tea Production - Open Source Farm
Raised Bed Gardening - Leon IFAS Extension (Molly Jameson & Mark Tancig)
Totally Tomatoes - Native Nurseries
Seasonal Cooking Class - KitchenAble Cooking School
Local Food Swap - Tally Food Swap
Southern Food Forestry - Great Southern Forestry
Growing Gourmet Mushrooms - Play of Sunlight Mushrooms
2019 Restaurant Partners
It takes a village to support small farm communities. Restaurants play an important roll in a small farm's survival and we want to draw attention to those who regularly buy from our local farmers. Over a dozen of the best restaurants in Tallahassee, Thomasville, Monticello, and Quincy are offered a Red Hills Special during Seven Days of Local Delights 2019. This dish showcased locally sourced ingredients from our very own Red Hills Small Farm Alliance farmers!
Show your support for small local farmers and these great restaurants by patronizing these amazing establishments.
