A Week-Long Celebration of
Local Food!

January 19-26, 2020

Seven Days of Local Delights is an annual week of celebrating our vibrant local food system. The week is filled with events and workshops on topics ranging from cooking classes to raised bed gardening demos. In addition to workshops, we also partner with the area's best restaurants to offer a Red Hills Special dish featuring locally sourced ingredients. The week is capped by a fundraiser brunch at Kool Beanz Cafe that is really something to remember.
Check in often! This page will be updated throughout January!

At KitchenAble, we love the Red Hills Online Market for the networking and convenience they bring to fresh LOCAL FLAVOR. During this Friday night cooking class, we will start with a beautiful basket of fresh ingredients purchased at the Red Hills Online Market.  Chef Jessica, (who happens to be a farmer's daughter) will talk and cook through all of the fresh ingredients. You will leave with a full stomach and a better understanding of our local agriculture, what is seasonal now, how to navigate local markets or shop from a CSA.  The meal for this class will be determined by the "cream of the crop" at the moment and will include an ample tasting of many wonderful, seasonal "Market Inspired" dishes.   In addition to local fruits and vegetables ingredients used will include local cheese, local eggs, and local chicken.  BYOB

All recipes subject to change depending on availability.

Join the Damayan Garden Project at the Frenchtown Heritage Hub for a fun and interactive experience in the garden with your child. During our session, we will focus on two important elements of our local food; gardening education and service to our community!

We will start with planting seasonal veggies in the newly renovated Frenchtown Hub community garden.  Children will learn about various types of seeds, the building blocks of soil, seasonal eating and growing, as well as the importance of community connection and service. We will finish off the session with a seed paper activity and small compostable veggie starters for participants to take home.

This is a great activity for children and those looking to learn more about seasonal growing and community collaboration.

Exploring Seeds & Soil

 Restaurant Partners

It takes a village to support small farm communities. Restaurants play an important role in a small farm's survival and we want to draw attention to those who regularly buy from our local farmers. Over a dozen of the best restaurants in Tallahassee, Thomasville, Monticello, and Quincy are offering a Red Hills Special during Seven Days of Local Delights. This dish will showcase locally sourced ingredients from our very own Red Hills Small Farm Alliance farmers!
