Local Agriculture!

Seven Days of Local Delights is an annual week of celebrating our vibrant local food system. The week is filled with events and workshops on topics ranging from cooking classes to raised bed gardening demos. It is a fun-filled educational week for everyone!

Bee in My Garden Days

Join us for a FREE outdoor family event, Bee in My Garden Days, sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse Florida, at The Grove Museum. Attendees can pick up a free pollinator garden kit and participate in activities to find out how to help wildflowers grow, learn about native bees, play games, make art, and explore The Grove's grounds.

Organic Vegetable Gardening 101

If you’re new to vegetable gardening, new to Tallahassee, or just want a refresher course, then this is the class for you! Joe Walthall will go over the basics of organic vegetable gardening; soil preparation, watering, fertilization, pest control and when & what to plant. After the one-hour indoor presentation, we will conclude with a demonstration outside in our vegetable garden.

Farm to Table Class with KitchenAble

Join a seasonal food centered cooking demo by Chef Jessica at the KitchenAble Cooking School. The menu with include: fresh local cheeses, a seasonal salad, roasted seasonal vegetables, stone-ground local grits, sautéed seasonal greens, local chicken, local bacon, and a delicious citrus dessert. The exact menu will be based the absolute freshest ingredients we find at the RHO Market this week!

Innovative Gardening at the Frenchtown Farmers Market

Learn more about innovative gardening where you can get creative in using small spaces to grow more food with the Damayan Garden Project and the Frenchtown Farmers Market. They will be upgrading last year's bed to an herb spiral and exhibiting container planting for potatoes. Cost: Free

Food Forest Workshop at Treehouse Permaculture

Join Henry and Burgen of Treehouse Permaculture for a hands on food forest workshop on their urban farm. This workshop will cover topics such as native plant selection, wildlife and pest management, fruiting tree planting and long term care, and more. Treehouse is passionate about supporting sustainable food systems through region specific education and hands on workshops. This workshop is geared towards community members of all ages interested in incorporating food into their residential and community landscapes.
